Success~ The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
How do we judge success within ourselves and others? Is it measured on our physical appearance, career path, material possessions, or the amount of money in our bank accounts?
If you are like me, you judge on all of these things, and I am sure the judgement is quickly returned from others. What if we had a new way to measure success? Changing the way in which we measure success could result in a kinder more loving attitude toward each other.
There are many lenses of success…
1~ Persistence in failing! Don’t measure others by their present success and assume it was easy for them. Failure reveals much about character and inner self. If the tool you use to measure others only sees the present, you need a new tool. Fall 7 times and get up 8.
2~ Morality in everything! Moral values direct the path, build good character and better a society. They also help people make the right choices and decisions. Moral or ethical values help us look at how we measure others success and resolve challenging situations.
3~ Gratitude in all things! Practicing gratitude allows you to have an overwhelming habit of seeking and finding the good in your life. If you practice gratitude in your daily life, there is no time to wallow in self-pity and be envious of others success.
4~ Self Growth! Growing is a never-ending journey of trial and error. This journey will test our strengths and weaknesses and we’ll start to look at others differently. The process of growth will help you discover that others are also walking a path that may not be easy. Understanding this will help clear the lens to show empathy towards others.
5~ Opportunity of integrity! Living a life of integrity means you possess qualities such as honesty, responsibility and courage. A moral compass comes naturally to you, and it does not waiver. When you judge others through this lens it is much kinder and admirable. People will take notice if you look through this lens.
The basis of these directives can be summed up into persistence, morality, gratitude, self-growth, and integrity. If we focus our lens on these when seeing others, we may just see that we need to apply these in our own lives.
Not every effort is successful but behind every success there is an effort
