The fairy tale
Once upon a time, I lived a life of frivolous spending, self indulgent amounts of over priced coffee and incredible shoes. The hundreds of dollars I spent each year on these pointless things was absurd and embarrassing. This is an ongoing challenge and work in my life and I continue to understand that my life can be so much better if I search for magic of experiences and not physical purchases.
Splurge
To indulge oneself in some luxury or pleasure, usually a costly one. To spend (money) lavishly or ostentatiously.
Realization
I have come to the realization that I can survive not having all my meals out on the weekends. Coffee can be enjoyed at home on my patio, barefoot. This stay at home order graced on all of us has taught me to really take a look at my “fairy tale world” and be more aware of my future purchases and understand that life isn’t about things but experiences.
What is splurge worthy?
- Using what we have
- Awareness of spending habits
- Experiences of all kinds
- Generosity in any form
- Contentment with current situations
The greatest ending to this fairy tale would be that we all grew out of the consumption habit and into a life with the conscious effort to be generous and content just where we are.
Life itself is the most wonderful fairy tale, its up to you to create the ending of your dreams.
